Imagine mocha tree bark, imagine scrubbing
them hard until they turn vanilla
like the opposite of London moths
during the industrial revolution,
where trees covered in ash and those who
weren’t soot were eaten. And imagine hummingbirds
sucking out the chocolate syrup pollenating
the tulips countries over. And two lips
darted overseas just to find their tongues.
And imagine their smiles when they found out
that teeth don’t count as currency.
