DAMSELS

The dragons green with pearly sheen

Are sleeping on their gold.

The charming prince a long time since

Resigned to growing old.

The wizards mad with plans so bad

Are in their towers locked.

And witches keen with cackles mean

Are calmly darning socks.

The beasties pause, distressed because

No maiden is devoured.

And this occurs because these girls

Went out and got empowered.

So keep the gowns, mattresses down

With peas beneath the stack.

And watch out, foes, for how it goes

When princesses fight back.
